Pleased to meet you
My name is Mark. Photographing abandoned places is my passion. In the years that I’ve been doing this now, I’ve captured them in all shapes and sizes.
From evacuated streets, schools, and villages in Chernobyl. Churches and Psychiatric Institutions in Italy. Theaters and factories from the former GDR era in Germany. Fully furnished houses from great grandmother’s time in Belgium. Industry in Luxembourg. Baroque-style castles in France to a school in the Czech Republic.
A few times a month I go out for a long day, crossing the border or even borders to our neighboring countries. And every so often a long weekend or a few weeks to be able to go a little longer and get a little further. Flying or driving it doesn’t matter as long as we get to our destination.
Searching for and wandering around places that have often been abandoned for decades also has a ’therapeutic’ effect. There is such serene tranquility in these places. You and your buddy or buddies with whom you are on the road each look for a point where you start and you will meet again somewhere later.
The countries I have visited so far: Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium, Ukraine, France, USA, Czech Republic and there is still plenty to add…
